01

Problem

Despite being a central guiding principle for ensuring rights, the Principle of the Best Interests of the Child (BIC) still faces significant challenges for its practical implementation, both within and outside the Judiciary.

Gaps in knowledge of and training regarding BIC persist, which can hinder consistent and effective decision-making and interventions centred on the child/adolescent and their wellbeing.

02

Focus

The PRISMA Project focuses on applied research and training initiatives aimed at improving practices within the Judiciary and Welfare Services.

Throughout the project, knowledge, results and materials will be produced to support more consistent and child/adolescent-centred actions, as well as to guide public and judicial policies and practices that are equally centred on children/adolescents and their best interests.

03

Scope

The PRISMA Project is aimed primarily at professionals working in the Judiciary and Welfare Services, supporting their practice through training and the dissemination of results.

The project will also consider, through structured and responsible consultation, the perspectives of children and adolescents as a reference for guiding child/adolescent-centred practices and tools.
